Why Employees Are Speaking Out About Workplace Cleaning

With fall right around the corner, more and more employees are speaking out about workplace cleaning.

According to a recent Dynata survey, a majority of employees—regardless of vaccination status— want their workplaces to place a renewed emphasis on cleaning due to a fear of contracting covid or another highly transmissible virus.

What Employees Care About

Here are just a few things that employees had to say about workplace cleaning:

“Cleaning and disinfecting is important in any workplace to prevent any infection not just Covid.”

“Actions speak louder than words. I should be able to see the cleaning being done frequently so that I know it’s happening.”

“Clean our workspace like you would clean your home. We live here, too.”

The significance given to workplace cleanliness is a trend that is likely to continue long after the pandemic has passed. Nearly 90% of survey respondents believed that workplace cleaning protocols are very or somewhat important, with 93.4% of vaccinated respondents and 92.2% of unvaccinated respondents sharing this sentiment.

On top of that, 77.2% of respondents believe the workplace should be cleaned at least once a day, with 81.2% of vaccinated respondents and 68.5% of unvaccinated respondents sharing this sentiment.

Companies looking to prioritize the mental wellness of their employees should consider cleaning their offices regularly. 62.1% of respondents believe that seeing professional cleaners at the workplace would make them feel safer and more protected from contracting covid. In addition, nearly half of respondents have even asked their employer about their company’s cleaning protocols, highlighting that this is a priority for them.

What Your Company Can Do

The majority of business owners already know how important it is to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe workplace at all times. With these recent survey findings, however, it may be time to re-prioritize workplace cleanliness if you’ve shifted it to the back burner.

Fortunately, you can outsource your janitorial services. This way, you don’t have to deal with the hassle of managing your company’s cleaning but you can also provide a clean and safe environment for your employees.
